People have know for years that lemons are good for you. The acidic citrus fruit packs a ton of nutrients have many uses. One of the latest popular uses is to use it to remove toxins from your body and help you lose weight. The good news is that the lemon water detox can help with weight loss, when combined with a good diet and exercise routine. 

Why Lemon Water Works For Weight Loss

Lemon helps stimulate the digestive track and regulate your system. This helps with constipation, heartburn and bloating. When the digestive system is stimulated, it increases the production of bile.

Bile is produced by the liver and is delivered to the small intestines. Once there, it works to break down the lipids or fat, that have been ingested.

When these fats are broken down, they are allowed to pass freely out of the body, rather than being stored. These are the fats that settle in your mid section and are also known as belly fat.

Lemon also causes the bile to be much thinner. This thinned out bile travels easily through the digestive track and reduces constipation.

1 tbs – Honey

1 tsp – Salt

12 Mint Leaves

1/4 cup of Cubed Watermelon

1 Cucumber Sliced

1 tsp of Cayenne Pepper Ground

How To Make Lemon Water Detox

Step 1 – Fill a glass with 2 to 3 cups warm filtered water.

Step 2 – Squeeze the juice from 2 or more lemons. Usually around 1/2 of a cup.

Step 3 – Mix in 1 tablespoon of honey. Honey not only improves flavor, but adds many health benefits.

Step 4 – Add 1 teaspoon of salt. This is also optional, but the electrolytes from salt are essential to your overall health and replace those that are lost during daily activity.

Step 5 – Mix everything together with a spoon. Once the honey and salt have dissolved, you may wish to add some ice if you prefer a cold drink. You can also heat the mixture.

I like to add a little cayenne pepper to my lemon water. It adds some great, unique flavor and seems to help fend off colds.

While lemon water is a pretty tasty drink, it can get old after a while. To mix it up a little, here are a couple of variations you can try.

Cucumber Detox WaterLemon Cucumber Water

In a medium pitcher, mix 1 lemon worth of juice and 1 cucumber sliced into circles. Add a quart of filtered water and place in the refrigerator. Serve over ice if desired.

The great thing about watermelon is that it contains hardly any calories! And, it helps to add hydration to your body. Watermelon is also a great source of magnesium and potassium. This helps to improve blood flow throughout your body and moderates your hydration levels.

To make Watermelon Lime Water:

Start with 2 quarts of filtered water. Add 2 cups of watermelon cubes. Then, slice 1 lime and add about a dozen mint leaves. Allow to sit for several hours before serving over ice.

Using the Lemon Water Detox from above, add 2-4 teaspoons of grated ginger root.

Mix and allow to sit for 1 hour or more. Add ice if you desire.

How Often Should You Drink Lemon Water?

The great thing about lemon water is that you can drink it all the time. It is really good for you and will help you reduce excess weight in the process.

There is no set time table because no 2 people are the same, but you should start seeing results within a week or two!
